California wine contributes to almost 90% of United States wine industry. Almost nine out of every ten bottles of U.S. wine are actually California wine. California Wine Revolution

California wine revolution began in 1976 during a blind – tasting organized in Paris, France. A Chardonnay 1973 from Chateau Montelena and a Cabemet Sauvignon 1973 from Stag's Leap beat all the other French wine. In addition, all the tasting was done by the French and there were no American judges at all. This really shook the whole Europe and the California wine is then look upon differently.
